Esports in the Olympics, Game Developer Unionization, and Mega Man Nostalgia - The Grind Games Podcast (2024)

Speaker 1:

Hello and welcome back to the grind games podcast. My name is Rob Garcia. I am your host. Sitting with me laughing over there to my side is my good buddy, francis dinah. France, hello, hello. How's it going? So let me fill you in on why he's laughing so much right now. So me and my guy over here, this is a good start, though. Okay, go ahead. We were sitting here for, like the past, I don't know 20 minutes, and we were talking, doing the whole thing, and I had looked down. Why is the button green? I didn't hit the record button. We were sitting here talking for 20-something minutes, most likely, and we did not even hit the record. Well, I didn't hit the record button. That was all on me, definitely all on me.

Speaker 2:

That's why I was looking at it. I'm like, why is it green? Maybe he changed the settings or something like that.

Speaker 1:

But no, it's not recording at all.

Speaker 2:

But there's a lot of topics that we talked about. But you know what? It's all good.

Speaker 1:

We can just talk about it again and again, the only thing really worth.

Speaker 1:

there was a lot of other stuff that we went on tangents about anyways, but the one thing I did want to bring up anyways from just before was that the Olympics is bringing esports into the Olympics in the future and we'll finally get to see little kids hunched over their keyboards during the Olympics doing esport games like League of Legends and what did I say before? Rocket League, fighting games, stuff like that, maybe like Tekken and all that. The one thing that they're not going to be doing is like shooting games, shooting games. So there's no Fortnite, there's no Call of Duty, so nothing like that. More things that are easy or rather family friendly, I guess you can say to actually show on TV. So that was really the only thing, man, I cannot believe I did that. I cannot believe. This is what happens, you know, and full disclosure.

Speaker 1:

We're using this setup. We're in person, we're live. I can touch my guy, I can play with his nipples over there if I want to, okay, but we're doing in-person recording. We had used this a while back when we went upstate and it worked out fine. I guess I was hyper-focused on making it work out that one time that we used it. Where's that In PA, right? Yeah, it was up in pa, uh, when we went it was like last was it last year?

Speaker 1:

yeah, yeah, probably last.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's exactly last year, I think last august. Right, yeah, it's august last year yeah, yeah, so it feels like it was even longer?

Speaker 1:

yeah, because it would have. It was during the summer when we, we all went up and did something fun, right, yeah, but um, we had tried to use this what was, was it a week ago, two weeks ago and then messed up the recording, did this whole multi-track thing that it messed up the whole recording so that one was dead, that one episode that was like a full 59 minutes to an hour. Whatever it was gone, gone. And then this one another 20 minutes gone. These are the hardships that go into working with, you know, a new system that you haven't necessarily been working with, but it's okay, it's all right, it's all right. Just a little look behind the curtain as to what can go wrong, that's all.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, we can go over it again if you want, like Elden Ring. Oh yeah, no, no Anime solo leveling. Well, elden Ring Lelid to Lies of Pi, which is Korean. No, that's fine.

Speaker 1:

There's a whole bunch of stuff with anime that I wanted to get into the end. So it's fine. It probably works out better this way with the flow of it, because if you guys have listened to us before, we go off on a lot of tangents, especially me. I digress a lot into different things, different topics, and I have to bring myself back a little bit. Yeah, so it's okay, but, oddly enough, honestly the esports thing was only the second topic.

Speaker 1:

Oh, it was yeah, Bro, we were talking for so long that we just, like I said a lot of tangents that we go off on. There you go, but you know we want to get back into it, we're going to keep it going.

Speaker 2:

All right, let's see the third topic. What is it we're?

Speaker 1:

going to forget about how I messed that up just before, but you know, quick summary with esports coming over, finally signed, ioc is going to get everything going with that, um like comparing esports to uh real olympians, wherein like olympians have like muscly oh yeah, everything.

Speaker 1:

And then all of a sudden like kids, yeah, it's gonna be video games little little lanky, little lanky kids that are gonna be playing video games and and just kind of like hanging out over there. Meanwhile the olympians are, you know, gods among men, ripped shredded or women men and women too, yeah, these people.

Speaker 1:

And and then you're gonna have the little lanky kids that are playing esports. I'm sure they're gonna have like driving games. I wouldn't be surprised if gran turismo shows up. They already said Rocket League. League of Legends is another one. Tekken, tekken, probably. I could see that, especially since it's based around different types of martial arts.

Speaker 2:

What do you think about that? That wasn't on the list.

Speaker 1:

That's not on the list. No, no, but they're still adding. It's not a finalized list of games that they have yet. There's a couple that were on there, but definitely no shooting games. So I'm interested, I'm interested. So this probably would be like uh, it'd be perfect for like a winter games type of thing yeah for sure, because obviously summer games there's a lot of stuff going on outside winter games would be perfect for an esports type of thing.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so people can just stay at home watch and you know, relax well yeah, while watching for their uh player well, yeah, I, I mean basically it's.

Speaker 1:

You know, esports is obviously an inside kind of activity. Yeah, you're not doing it outside, so you don't have to do it during the Summer Olympics. It just makes sense, right? Yeah, but I was going to keep going with you with the next topic, which is now our topic number two.

Speaker 2:

Oh, is it Okay.

Speaker 1:

Well, now it is which is now our topic number two. Oh, is it okay? Well, now it is. But um, uh, we know in the gaming industry it's uh very hard for for workers out there and it's oddly enough, it's not even just the gaming industry, like the developers, it's the whole industry of people that even cover gaming media. There's a lot of layoffs, like game informer just shut down the whole thing. Game informer was like the last um thing in the us that uh was making an actual magazine, remember, like nintendo power and all that stuff.

Speaker 2:

I don't know if you had it in canada um, back in the philippines, that's where you get your uh, get your codes, or whatever uh guide that you got, it's it's all like yeah, they would. Or whatever guide that you get, it's all like a magazine.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, they would have some guides, they would have news. It would be like all this stuff. I don't know what they had in Philippines.

Speaker 2:

Remember when I was a kid? Oh, there's a guide for, let's say, how to get like Mega man X Ultimate Armor, ultimate Armor. Yeah, the black thing.

Speaker 1:

But were you buying the actual Mega man guide or was it just a magazine? That told you?

Speaker 2:

There's a bunch of magazine. And then it tells you like what can you see, like in the front page, like title page? Or the cover of the magazine you can see like oh, a guide to this, guide to this game, or guide to I remember Dragon Ball, just to get the Super Saiyan 4. Up down outbound left L1, r2, triangle X, something like that In like one of those Budokai games. Yeah, oh, really yeah.

Speaker 1:

So it was really all like cheats and strategy guys, yeah, kind of.

Speaker 1:

Oh okay, so these more like Game Informer, Nintendo Power these are a lot of the ones that were over here. Game Informer was really like the last one Game Informer. They had news, they had reviews, they had, you know, tips and tricks, they had, you know, maybe some short walkthroughs upcoming things. Basically, it was a magazine, A magazine in the same way that you have like YouTube channels that now look and talk about games and stuff like that. It was a magazine, A magazine in the same way that you have YouTube channels that now look and talk about games and stuff like that. It was a magazine and they still had their online stuff and all that they were doing websites and everything right.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

But that was the last one.

Speaker 2:

And it was under.

Speaker 1:

GameStop. Gamestop yeah, the store that we go and buy games sometimes, right, so that is gone. They closed it down. That just happened this week and there's no more.

Speaker 2:

No more game informer, um because I think people are switching to um internet nowadays yeah, I mean we're moving on a different age now.

Speaker 2:

Before it's always fun to go to game stuff, game stop, like, oh, I'm going to game, stop, I, I'm going to look at games, I'm going to look at magazine, I'm going to look at some shirt or whatever, whatever games related. But now people, I think generally YouTube is like oh, guides are here, trailers are going to be everywhere. It's on YouTube or Google, whatever. Like every information that you can find, you can find it on Google. Yeah, what question? Whatever questions you have, just type it on Google.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's, that's, that's basically. It's all there now, right, and. But you know, this was a magazine subscription that you would have sent to your house and, like I said, they did have online stuff, but it is like that, that and it's and it's not only them, it's a lot of other media sites that do youtube things, that do podcasting, that do, and every kind of media for for covering gaming and developers. Also, it's a lot of layoffs going on and a lot of them kind of just get surprised, like game informer. They just kind of, okay, we're closing down, they're gone, we're letting go of this. Many jobs, sorry guys, and it's been a thing that's been going on since last year.

Speaker 1:

There's been a lot of layoffs, right a lot of them are surprised and they first find out when it's a twitter post. They don't even tell them hey guys, this is going to be the day that we're closing down. We're sorry, blah blah. No, they find out because they, a lot of them find out. Because they see a twitter post online. They're like what? What the hell? I? I, I was going into work or some people actually with game informer yeah some of them were on location at a different place, covering something for work oh really while they were covering something for work, they closed it down.

Speaker 1:

so this you know let's say a guy, woman, whatever it is, maybe like we're in New York, maybe imagine you were in California covering some sort of gaming news. You see a post today Game Informer shut down. And you're like what the hell?

Speaker 2:

How am I going to get paid?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, exactly how am I going to go back, Exactly? I mean, you have your ticket, of course, but I mean it's like what the heck? I'm here spending money Now I don't have a job.

Speaker 2:

What the?

Speaker 1:

hell. I'm here for what? How many more days until my flight? I have to go back, bro. That's the craziest way to find out. And this is bringing me back to the news with Bethesda. There, to the news with Bethesda right, there's been a big push for a lot of companies to unionize.

Speaker 2:

Oh, they're unionizing, which is nice.

Speaker 1:

So all of Bethesda, and, like I've told you before, bethesda, you know them. They make Skyrim, they make what was the most recent game Starfield, starfield.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, that's nice that they just released. Of course you, you know they have their fallout games and all that. They have a big list of games. They have a big catalog of games that are under bethesda right, whether they published or whether they actually develop. Most of them develop in-house. But the whole company, everyone from the bottom to the top, is getting unionized with the um cwa. Yeah, so wall-to-wall unionization, it's like a big thing. This is the first company that is this big, that is unionizing. So it's like the first big step and it's important because, like with all the companies that we were talking about, with gaming coverage and media and developers, this unionization will help to make sure that you don't get surprised like that, right, because imagine, bro, like you, in another state or another country, like gamescom is not that far from now. There could have been people that were in germany covering the news and gamescom, oh yeah, no, no, you don't have a job anymore, sorry but uh, how do you unionize a company like?

Speaker 2:

is it like 60 percent of the workers like employees?

Speaker 1:

like what? I don't know what percentage, I don't even know if there's a percentage. I'm not too keen on the um workings of how to get unionized, I'll be honest. But you know, the unionization, or rather if you unionize, your union, will help to protect you and will help to give you better working conditions and wages better wages yeah, better um salary, better, you know better work life balance yes um better chance of not getting shafted and just getting thrown off to the side, like these people at Game Informer did.

Speaker 1:

And you know, we'll work out different sorts of things with severance packages and basically we'll just fight for you, to make sure that you actually get treated like a human being as opposed to just tossed off to the side when they don't need you. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

I think it's better for them to make more better games. You know like people are more confident to hey uh, at least I'm utilized, like I'm here to work and like they can bring out more into their passion because they know that they are secured with their work.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you're not scared, especially right now that there have been a lot of companies that have been shutting down whole arms of development, whole arms of covering media or whatever it is. Yeah, bro, a lot of these people are scared.

Speaker 1:

So if you're unionized, it does help make you feel more reassured, but obviously a lot of companies don't want to do that because they don't want to give them the fair wages or have a union that's going to be on top of them to fight for them in, basically, whatever needs that the employees have. It's easier if they don't for the heads of the companies, right, because they can just kind of do really whatever they want. Yeah, so it's a big change, it's an important change. It's not the most exciting news in the way of like, oh yeah, did you hear? Did you hear the new, the new switch to which you know that should be coming in another couple months, maybe? Right, yeah, that's expected to be coming out 2025.

Speaker 1:

By the way, first, first quarter, most likely. Oh, really, search too. Yeah, they've already confirmed that. They have it. You know more news that they're going to mention about that at some point. They haven't said, when all the speculation is saying first quarter 2025, that it might release. Even if not, then then probably around christmas season or like what is this?

Speaker 1:

like 120 hertz no, there's no news yet. We don't know. I mean, chances are it probably will even be like 1080p still, maybe if on handheld mode. Well, that's a step up, because right now 720p, right right, so it could be cleaner. It'll be maybe just run games better. The chancesances are they won't have OLED right off the bat. You know they might go back to LCD because it's cheaper and you know Nintendo likes to make their systems cheaper so they can make more profit from them, right, yeah? So I don't know. We're going to see.

Speaker 2:

At least 120 hertz. You know that's probably not going to hurt, because nowadays, like you know, I don't know, it's even better it's Nintendo. I don't know.

Speaker 1:

I don't think they're worrying about frames for Nintendo 60 frames is if they can hit 60 frames a second for all of their games. That's more than enough. I think Once you start getting into 120 frames, that's really mainly for it's not sure it's going to be harder for the hardware to keep up. But what are the games that you really need that for Shooters, shooters, yeah. And are you really playing shooters on Nintendo? It doesn't really matter.

Speaker 2:

No, but if you're playing Zelda, what do you think?

Speaker 1:

No, no, come on that's wasted. I'd rather them put more effort into have it running stable, 60 and let me get it at 4K, which they might do with. Oh 64K, of course, Sure, which they'll likely use NVIDIA DLSS right or whatever new one that they have at that time.

Speaker 1:

So maybe it'll be in docked mode or whatever it is. But, yeah, that's. You know. We have no confirmed news, right, that's all. It's going to be a new nvidia chip that they have, you know, obviously because they have the little partnership with them. So, you know, we'll see what it is. And, um, you know, 2024, 2025, I'm sure they have something that will be able to run it, because there's a lot of even little laptops, ipads, that play these AAA games now, you know, yeah, so I'm sure the Switch will be able to handle something.

Speaker 1:

Hopefully, because ROG AliEx just released and it was really good you know, I mean, it wasn't that much better than the one that you have. Well, which, francis?

Speaker 2:

Double the life, like double the battery life is big you know. Is it really double? It's double.

Speaker 1:

Really yeah, that's a big thing.

Speaker 2:

But it's not the same. Like you can't just get the battery from the ROG Alloy X to switch it to the other. No, you can't right.

Speaker 1:

Because it's like a different setup that they have for all the hardware inside and the internals, right. Yeah, they have for all the hardware inside and the internals, right. But you see, if you have, like you have, the rog ally, it's, it's dumb for you to try to upgrade to the ally x that came out, what, like a year after the ally yeah, just a year. Yeah, I mean the little upgrades that they have to it ram is, I think, even better for that uh.

Speaker 2:

But you know, like, what they're missing is actually like, uh, the gpu kind of, because, uh, because that handheld is made. If you want more, you can just buy an egp yeah, I know, but that's another whole thing then and they have their proprietary plug for it and that eGPU is expensive right really expensive, like what? Seven, five hundred something like that, like you can like 3080 alone eGPU. I think it sure the the 30?

Speaker 1:

does it come with the GPU inside already when you buy it? Yeah, it's kind of like, uh, you will get up to.

Speaker 2:

Yes, uh sorry, on ROG Ally X, there's two USB-C now yeah, yeah yeah, so eGPU, newer one will be like the Thunderbolt, but for mine which?

Speaker 1:

is the older one. Has that proprietary cable right?

Speaker 2:

Yes, but it's kind of like you plug it in and then there's like different HDMI output.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it acts as the graphic card.

Speaker 2:

But what?

Speaker 1:

I was saying is the eGPU? Do you get just the case? Because there's a lot of external GPU cases that you can buy. Razer has one and then you put whatever graphic card that you have, oh no, no, no, it's built in, okay so that's definitely over $1,000 then.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, like $1,700.

Speaker 1:

That 3080 is 1700. That's crazy.

Speaker 2:

It's crazy, dude, you're buying a laptop yeah, it's kind of like that you bought the rog ally, the handheld one, and then you're buying another gpu if you want to upgrade, but it's more than enough if you just want a handheld. If you just want to go, no, like don't buy an e-gpu because you're gonna have your computer at home, and if you just want to go out and then like bring your computer. So if you buy a handheld, at least that's more than enough, capable to what you're playing.

Speaker 1:

For you to play. For you to play. You come home, you dock it, you do some other stuff with it. But I mean, I have my Steam Deck that I got a long time ago. And it works just fine. I'm able to play a lot of things. Elden Ring runs fine on that 45, whatever Tekken 8 I play on there runs just fine. I get running on low graphics settings, of course, but I still do get like a steady 60 frames a second when I'm playing.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's enough. That's enough when you're outside, when you're not at home.

Speaker 1:

But when you're outside, when you're not home, but when you're home, you can just use your computer. Yeah, yeah, I have my. Yeah, exactly, I'm gonna use my computer or my ps5 instead of doing that. But if you want a computer, of course, yes, I have my computer, like you said.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so I it's even. That's why I'm against the e-gpu. But you know, it's there for people to have access, or if they just decided to not buy a computer and just buy that. Yeah, you know.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, which is not bad and which you will have money to do, if you were one of these people that are working under a unionized company.

Speaker 2:

There you go. That's a good one.

Speaker 1:

Like I said, we go off on a lot of tangents, but it's good news, very good news, and it's a good, that's a good one.

Speaker 1:

Like I said, we go off on a lot of tangents, but that like, it's good news, very good news and it's a good shift for the industry overall and I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot of changes coming into the industry and a lot of changes that are coming into games media also, because that that's another section or sector of the industry that are trying to unionize too. So I'm excited to see those changes. I know, like I said, it's not exciting in the way of new hardware, new games, new this or that, right yeah.

Speaker 2:

But it's something, it's something new.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah. So I do want to talk to you about it's not necessarily a new game, but Capcom. I know you grew up at the same, obviously, generation that I did, and we grew up with Mega man. We all grew up with Mega man and Zero7, who could not be here today. God bless his soul.

Speaker 1:

He's not 100% today Out there with the vid, but he's hopefully doing better. My man loves Mega man X, especially the first one. Beats it front to back all the time. But he is like us. We grew up with Mega man, mega man X, especially for myself.

Speaker 2:

X4 for me.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, well, I mean the X series.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, that's the one that hits for me. I love it. Uh, so capcom had made a statement saying that they are looking into how to make megaman an ongoing on an ongoing basis, so like year after year, right, so, or maybe every two years, but more steadily, right. The last megaman game that we got was megaman 11, so it was a, you know, continuation from the megaman 9x series, right, uh, it was actually good. I enjoyed it a lot. It was, um, obviously not the same as you get in the armor pieces, charging, dashing, doing all the wall jumps, all that crazy stuff that you get with megaman x. Yeah, but it was fun, it was really good. Um, there have been a lot of different kind of Mega man games. We have Mega man, which is, you know, action platformer. Mega man X action platformer, with, you know, a little flair to it, right, yes, and ill music, great music. Yeah, we've had Mega man Battle Network.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, right.

Speaker 1:

And then NT Warrior that's more of the RPG style, almost kind of like a strategy-ish. You're on a grid, you're fighting different things, you use cards. It's actually really good. Those games are loved a lot by the people that played it. Mega man Legends you have Mega man Legends, which is the action adventure.

Speaker 2:

Yeah 3D.

Speaker 1:

It was on Nintendo 64 and PlayStation. Playstation they had Mega man Legends 1, mega man Legends 2. Those were awesome. Yeah, that was the first Mega man game that you actually got to play with Mega man without the helmet, remember, he just had the helmet and everything right, yes, and then you would get the helmet or he would walk around. No, he walked around without the helmet when you weren't in a battle. Sequence place right.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, but when you're in battle there's a helmet. What's fun with Mega man Legends is you go through dungeons to find better items.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's like a dungeon crawler almost. It's like you're an adventurer going into the dungeon collecting what you see from animes as an adventurer. Oh man, those games are so good and you get all the different pieces for his, his blaster, right you?

Speaker 2:

get. Yeah, it becomes so big.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it becomes so big oh man, those were so good, I would. And the sword too.

Speaker 2:

He would get the phase phase blade, I think it was called then you get the little sliding boots um the boots make your life easier, because he's just slide slide, slide.

Speaker 1:

Let me tell you, man, that mega man legends, those were so good and you know, obviously roll was in there. And then they had the uh tron bonds or the bonds, whatever the last names were the voice acting in that game even the english version was really good. It's really good. Yeah, it was really good. They. It was like watching an anime when they were talking. They, they for its time. Especially if you look back, thinking, thinking about it now. It looked. It's really good. Yeah, it was really good. It was like watching an anime when they were talking For its time. Especially if you look back thinking about it now. It looked great. They had a lot of expression on their faces.

Speaker 1:

It looked like an anime almost, but in 3D, with a lesser quality, of course, but it looked great. I would love to see another one come back. With a better quality, of course, of course.

Speaker 2:

You don't want it with the old um, would you want uh like a megaman legends or uh x series, kind of?

Speaker 1:

yeah, so that's what I was going to ask you what kind of megaman game would you want to see first? Um, first, yeah, so, because you know, if they're talking about an ongoing basis, there's a chance that they're going to do different type of games. I mean, and they did try the RPG with Command Mission oh, I haven't. Yeah, that was old, it was. You know, you played with Mega man Zero and Axl was there and all that too. But it was an RPG game. I never played it. I didn't really have the inclination to want to play it as much. But what genre would you look?

Speaker 2:

for I go back, uh, nostalgia, uh x series. I grew up with x4 where in unit like dungeon, dungeon crawl, basically like I love the gameplay of that. What do you call that? Which? Which one the?

Speaker 1:

x4. So yeah, that's a side scroller side scroller.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, this is that's true. The platformer, action platformer. I would say yeah, yeah, yeah. So that's what you want.

Speaker 1:

To the so would you want it? In the same way of you choose the level, you have the eight bosses yes, that again, that again. You want the same exact thing eight boss, so intro level. Then you have eight bosses, then you have the okay the, the end game levels where you go and fight sigma and all that yeah, then fight, everyone fight everyone. You want the same exact formula again same exact formula, okay that's exactly what you want.

Speaker 2:

I mean, yeah, but I think it's gonna be a fast game. If it's like that, yeah, what do you think?

Speaker 1:

yeah, no, it's, it's, it's definitely because I think zero told me he's. He's beaten megaman x in, maybe under three hours you can beat it in, he's like in one sitting, especially because he knows it. He knows where to get all the pieces and that's the fun part too getting all the armor pieces, getting the ultimate unlocks, like in uh, megaman x, the first one you get, the hadoken megaman x2 you can get the shoryuken right, yes, and then megaman x3. First one, you get the hadoken. Megaman x2, you can get the shoryuken.

Speaker 2:

Right, yes, and then megaman x3 I think you get the gold armor uh, there's a gold armor and there's like the complete ultimate armor, which is you get all the pieces yeah, yeah, so you get that all the gold armor is something about the code.

Speaker 1:

No, no, no. You have to get all this stuff to get the gold armor, I believe, if I'm remembering correctly, and then I completely forget what it is once you get to Mega man X4.

Speaker 2:

X4 is there's like a passcode before the start. Before you get the ultimate weapon, but for just a complete armor yeah, is every there, there, there you get the pieces yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1:

So I'm not talking about the cheat codes ones. I know that one you can get it to start with like the ultimate armor.

Speaker 1:

I believe in x4, and then you can have uh, zero, start as black zero which is stronger, and all that yeah but no, I'm talking about the stuff that you actually go and collect, um, or rather have to do a certain amount of things to actually get um the secret thing right. The secret like the hadouken, the shuriken, the gold armor um, I don't remember what they are anymore after that, like in four, five, six, it's weird. I forget what those were, but those games were all very good. But we can play it again I know I should go back and play them again actually right because they, because they're not long.

Speaker 1:

They're very easy to have access to now. Yeah, but so you say you want a traditional Mega man X game. That's what you want.

Speaker 2:

Not Mega man, no, mega man X, mega man X. I don't like Mega man because it doesn't have like the yeah, the wall jumping.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you can't do that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I don't like that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, no, the movement in that is very different from Mega man X. You have the dash, you can charge, you can do all this other cool stuff. So for me and I think we did talk a little bit before, but you even had brought up the the metroidvania type of genre and I and I think I still think, man, I get a little bit of a hard-on for that one when I hear that just uh, megaman x, metroidvania style, big open world, think like super metroid.

Speaker 2:

It's kind of easy if you think about it like super metroid, right, super metroid she's, you know now that you, uh, that you opened that one up, I thought of something a megaman x wherein you can. There's a big castle wherein you can. It's kind of like castlevania and there's like boss fights and everything oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean it's very similar with super metroid.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah although castlevania always has like that leveling system too right yeah, you get experience from all the enemies that you defeat, and you like that leveling system too, right, yeah, you get experience from all the enemies that you defeat and you have that leveling system, you get different weapons and all that kind of stuff too.

Speaker 2:

Yes, and hearts and hp plus and stuff like that, yeah yeah, which which um megaman x always has kind of in the way of like.

Speaker 1:

You get more um life. You get the sub tanks to fill up energy and stuff like that and you get the different abilities by fighting the different bosses yeah, get the different equipment.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, like secret stuff.

Speaker 1:

Maybe they can do that yeah, I mean, it's like a new world now, so there's a lot they can do with megaman, if they really think about it. I think a metroidvania would be really cool. Yes, because it's it's. It's a genre of game that's really popular, right now, so I can see them looking at it. We just had what's it called, you know, Metroid Dread didn't come out too long ago. We had the Bloodstained Ritual of the Night, which was, you know, Iga, who was the original creator of Castlevania, made that one it was great.

Speaker 1:

We just had recently, was it? Prince of Persia, the Lost Crown Awesome game. I know you didn't play that one. No, I played that one. It was really good Metroidvania. So I think it's a good time to bring Mega man X into the world of Metroidvania, because a lot of the core mechanics of Mega man X would still stay the same. Yes, but you're just putting it into a big, open world as opposed to choosing a level here, choosing a level there. You have the different biomes for the different things.

Speaker 2:

Different weather atmosphere. Oh man, now that I think about it, oh yeah, why not?

Speaker 1:

I think that would be so cool. I cannot wait to see what it is that they would do with that. I hope that they actually do what they said they were going to do and make Mega man games on an ongoing basis, because that is a game or a series that did not get any love for years, man, and it's sad because, remember, the original creator of Mega man tried to. He had a Kickstarter, tried to make a spiritual successor. I don't know if you remember Mighty no 9. Kind of yes, yeah, just Mighty no 9.

Speaker 1:

So people didn't really like it that much I did.

Speaker 2:

It's like a fake Mega man.

Speaker 1:

Well, he made Mega man, he just tried to make something different. But he can't use Mega man, right? But he's not Mega man. Sure, it's not. I still liked it, and I always say this to Zero I had fun with the game. People didn't like it and I'm a little sad about that because he was.

Speaker 2:

He's like Pokemon and Digimon.

Speaker 1:

I mean, Digimon is the better game.

Speaker 2:

Really Pokemon is better.

Speaker 1:

Well, digimon is a better anime. I mean to say yeah, I guess so.

Speaker 2:

Come on now.

Speaker 1:

Digimon is more hardcore. It's more adult themed, not like more like dramatic and stuff. It's cool, okay, okay, I mean they're both good, though Not comparable.

Speaker 1:

Okay, okay. But the sad thing with that one too was that he was going to make a Mega man Legends spiritual successor called Red Ash. You know, called Red Ash. It's not Mega man Legends, but he was going to make that style of game and it was called Red Ash. He started the Kickstarter for it, but this was a little bit after Mighty no 9 came out. That didn't do that well critically, so I think that one just kind of fell by the wayside. So I'm a little bit sad about that. So if Capcom is actually going to do what they said they're going to do, I'm really excited. I'm very hyped for this and I want, I want this to happen I need it to happen, bro.

Speaker 2:

This is one of the games that you're waiting for, and then you pay. Pay right away. Or there's, oh yeah, pre-order day.

Speaker 1:

One day one, yeah, same here and this is a conversation that I do want to get back to. Once we get with zero. Yeah, because he's got a lot of love for it too. I'm curious to see I mean, he's either listening to this right now going no, no metroidvania.

Speaker 2:

No, we'll see his reaction after this is released.

Speaker 1:

I know, or he's like yeah, I can see it, I'm curious to see what he says, because I haven't talked to him about it at all. I don don't even know if he knows that Capcom is toying around with the idea of bringing it back in a big way like that.

Speaker 2:

Probably he knows, but we'll see. I mean, once he listens to this one, he'll know right away. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

No, I'm hoping it comes back, I'm hoping they breathe new life into it.

Speaker 2:

And yeah, there's something different, other than just Elden Ring success or something like that no, of course. Like Soul Sly game. You know this is something different. It's like going back to your childhood game.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and Metroidvania are one of my favorite genres, yeah, so it'd be a great way to breathe new life into it.

Speaker 2:

But this is like kind of like Final Fantasy, and they got better, better, better 13. Yeah, it changed, and then all of a sudden they're going to release Octopath Traveler. People are nostalgic.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, of course.

Speaker 2:

So then, octopath Traveler is really good.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

With that kind of sound and voicing.

Speaker 1:

That one's more old school. Yeah, first actor. Yeah, yeah, there you go. And then, so, speaking of breathing new life into something old, yeah, you know, I have the PSVR 2. Yeah, right, you know I like it, and I should mention that I like it and I want to use it, especially for, like, the VR versions of what's it called Resident Evil, right, resident Evil 4, resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 7. Yeah, evil 4, resident evil village and resident evil7. Yeah, it's a little hard and it's a little sad that when I used it, I actually happened to get that whole like oh disney's, oh my stomach, yeah, me too I tried it, yeah, where I feel like I'm in the like you're in reality.

Speaker 2:

So your heart race and then you sweat a lot, I don't know man it's. It's weird, it's like you're in the in in that, in the real world, with the game world it does mess with you and it messes with.

Speaker 1:

Oddly enough, it messes with my stomach a little bit. Very rarely do I get the whole nausea aspect, but it does mess with my stomach a little bit. It does turn a little bit, yeah and um, to get a little bit crass. It makes me go run to the bathroom, maybe like an hour or two after I'm like, okay, something's got to come up. So yeah, you know it's a little bit crass. Sorry, but PSVR 2 has been on the PlayStation 5 now for maybe two years. It hasn't sold that much. So PSVR 2 hasn't sold that much because it was very expensive. So to put it into, I guess the numbers 499, I believe, was the original price of the ps5 um or 449 was the ps5 disc edition and then the. Then the 499 was the digital edition. So 499 and 549. Psvr 2, I believe, was 599 when it first came out, if you got the edition that came with.

Speaker 1:

Oh God, call of the Wild, what was it? Horizon, call of the Wild, call of the wild. What was it? Uh, horizon, call of the wild, call of the mountain, um, and a lot of people didn't really buy it.

Speaker 1:

The hardware itself was really good, um, and it looked great. Had the foveated rendering it you know, had um, the haptic feedback in the controllers, and the system itself works really well. Has just the one cord, the usbc cable that goes from the headset to the ps5. It's a big old headset and it works great rather big old cable and gives you a lot of space to move around. So now they're breathing new life into that, you know, however, a year and a half after it finally released, there haven't been that much support in from PlayStation in it, because it was just the one game that came out for the PSVR 2. So they dropped the price on the PSVR 2. And they also, a couple months back, said that they were going to work on allowing users to use it on pc. So now, august 6th, I believe, is actual. Oh shoot, that's actually very soon. Uh, you are, it's actually tomorrow, is it?

Speaker 1:

oh, yeah, that's tomorrow tomorrow like in like 27 minutes so tomorrow or whenever you're listening to this, it is already. The PSVR 2 app on Steam is available that you can use to go and basically work out the settings for the PSVR 2 on PC. You can also buy the adapter that you need to be able to use it for PC, which I believe is $59.99 from PlayStation Direct, and that's all you need. You're ready to go and use the PSVR 2 on PC and, like I said, they dropped the price for the PSVR 2 down to $349. And once they did that, sold out Right away. The sales of it bumped up by 200% I think they said maybe 2,000, I want to say, but basically they sold out. Everybody was buying it Because now you can use it for PC and it's a very good headset at a very good price, because the next thing up is the HTC Vive or the Valve Index, which are $1,000.

Speaker 1:

Or they're very expensive.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so people are now just gonna get that yeah, so this is a very good headset to use with pc because imagine that very good headset, very good in general, everything as well, and then you only get it for, let's say, with the cable for pc, four hundred ten dollars, something yeah, exactly so.

Speaker 1:

It's why not? It's a great price, it's a great headset. I have it, I love it. Um, I use it with you know, beat saber and stuff like that, and it works fine.

Speaker 2:

I don't get that whole nausea or turn stomach and all that yeah, but when you play like the horizon man, that one made me this is with you a little bit.

Speaker 1:

You know, it's one of those things that I think your body has to adjust to. It has to be able to get used to doing that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah imagine in, like, let's say, 50 years from now, everything is just vr. You know, you have like the treadmill kind of like, yeah, like a circle treadmill so that you can run wherever you want yeah, so there's actually one company, the omni virtuix, I think it's called it's a company that does that treadmill for vr and stuff.

Speaker 1:

There's one I've always looked at.

Speaker 2:

It looks really cool yeah, it's like a circle thing, so that whatever you go, like you're just, you feel like you're literally walking yeah, yeah, you like slide around your feet, slide on and you run 50 years from now, man, it's probably gonna be like that 50 years from now.

Speaker 1:

I feel like they're gonna have something better, something different, and you're. I feel like they'll have worked out the kinks so that you won't have that whole nausea feeling right yeah, and then you can see like buff people, like olympians let me jack in like in sword art online, oh, without the dying if I die in the game, oh no, let me jack in with my wife and we'll go on a date in like, uh in a fantasy world. Right, that, that's what I'm I.

Speaker 2:

I hope we get to see that in our lifetime yeah now, then we can just look back at this recording and like and like. Oh, we didn't say that before. I mean, there's a lot of people that are waiting for that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you know, but that would be really cool. But that's. You know what they're doing with the PlayStation VR 2, that hardware. They're opening it up to everybody on PC. I'm definitely going to try to make use of it. See what they got out there to use. Half-life Alyx is the big one that people want to actually use it for, because that's like the vr game that you need to try with it, right? And uh, if we're gonna keep it going with uh hardware, um, you're, you know, astrobot, right?

Speaker 1:

was that game that came with the ps5, yeah, yeah astro, so I'm gonna hand. Since you're here sitting with me, I'll hand that over to you while we're talking.

Speaker 1:

Oh no, really. So that's Astro Bot and to commemorate, I guess, the release of the Astro Bot game, what you're looking at there is a new controller that will also be coming out for PlayStation 5. So what you're looking at there is the controller. It has the white and blue kind of color. Yeah, on the handles has the blue coloring that you still see. That you see on astrobot.

Speaker 2:

I love that, yeah and on the the.

Speaker 1:

The rest of the controller is all white. The sticks are white, the buttons are white, the d-pad is white. Their eyes I can see the eyes. Yeah, the touchpad is black and on the touchpad you see, uh, what would be astrobot's eyes yeah, I love that.

Speaker 2:

Does it have a back button? No, come on that.

Speaker 1:

That's that's. You're getting into edge territory right now. This is.

Speaker 2:

They're just releasing this and then maybe if they release that with the normal ps controller, ps5 controller, then probably they will release that skin with the edge no, no, no, and it has these little details on it that make it look a little bit more robotic in that way.

Speaker 1:

You know kind of what you would expect to see with astrobot. Yeah, and you know, around the touchpad there's also these little blue accents, so they do it. It's it's blue and white, right the whole thing with, with black for the touchpad and the eyes, kind of like what you expect with astrobot. Yeah, so I was gonna ask you is what do you think? Do you like that? Oh, yeah, I love it. Would you want that? See? You know, these are like my colors that I always go for with a controller white, blue, white, yeah, yeah but I don't know, I'm kind of like okay, just like my diana france logo it's blue, white, black

Speaker 2:

oh yeah yeah, I love that color, I love that it's. It's spacey, it's gandami, it's like I don't know like, uh, like it's like space something, but I don't know, man, it's futuristic, futuristic, yeah it has that robotic look to it, which I guess it.

Speaker 1:

I guess it is kind of nice.

Speaker 2:

I guess it is I guess what do you mean? It is kind of nice, it is nice, it is.

Speaker 1:

It is, but it's not. I guess what I'm going to say. It's not enough for me to want to go and actually buy it, right? Yeah, so you know, but it's out there. It's a controller that's going to be coming out for the ps5, if you're interested. I'm interested in the astrobot game because how much is it going to be?

Speaker 2:

you think no, normal, no normal price $69.99. Why not? Yeah, something, something.

Speaker 1:

If I needed another one, maybe I would consider it. Yeah, but as of right now, no, okay, so that's the controller. You all can go and take a look at it. So I want to finish up with PlayStation for the August. The august ps plus lineup yeah, and you actually have playstation plus right now, also because you actually set it up yeah, for elden ring yes, so that we can play co-op, yeah so kind of like a psa. This month's playstation plus lineup we have the uh star wars, the skywalker saga it's uh, the lego game, lego Star Wars, skywalker Saga, I should say.

Speaker 1:

And then we have Five Nights at Freddy's, and then we have this Ender Lilies game, so Ender.

Speaker 2:

Lilies oh.

Speaker 1:

Ender Lilies yeah, I have this one already actually. Ender Lilies is actually a pretty good game. It is a Metroidvania, so you play as that little girl. You see, they're dressed in white.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

And you get different how do I say it? Like different spirits in that game that she uses to attack and you can set up I believe it's three different spirits to different attack buttons, and some of them are quick attacks, some of them are ranged attacks, some of them are ranged attacks, some of them are heavy attacks Stuff like that, right, and you set them up to different buttons and you do the combos and all that and it's a Metroidvania in that way. Oh man, so that game is actually really fun.

Speaker 2:

How come I didn't see that when I had the so these actually didn't release just yet.

Speaker 1:

They will be coming out sometime soon august 6th.

Speaker 2:

So tomorrow, tomorrow, yeah, later tonight.

Speaker 1:

Maybe by the time you get home you'll be able to download them, but, of course, just always add them to your library, yeah, because even if you let your playstation plus lapse, whenever you get it back again, you can download them again after that. So download them again after that. So that's that now, before we get into the last thing, which was all of the uh anime stuff that we wanted to get into, because there's a lot of good anime this season, there's a lot of stuff we've been watching I wanted to show you the new trailer that we have for the legend of zelda. Yeah, echoes of wisdom. Yeah. So, if you don't know, this game is a 2d kind of top-down zelda game in the style of the lynx awakening remake it looks just like that.

Speaker 2:

I believe it is grezzo also too.

Speaker 1:

That's remaking this or making this game. So I'll let this, I'll let this run while we run, while we talk about it, and this is the beautiful part that we actually get to sit here and talk about it and watch it at the same time.

Speaker 2:

Welcome to Hyrule, a vast land where Princess Zelda will journey through her grand adventure. This is kind of like a Link no like the new. It's like a Link, no like the new.

Speaker 1:

It's like a Link's Awakening remake. Yeah, link's Awakening, yeah, so this is like the remake that they made. It looks just like it, right yeah? I don't know how much you've seen of this game. It's all top-down right. It's just like that. One has the same art style, has that kind of like claymation diorama. Look to it. This is the game that you're playing as zelda.

Speaker 2:

Something happens to link and now you're basically going in to save zelda, I mean so you're zelda to save link.

Speaker 1:

I mean to say, yes, you play zelda, it's the other way around.

Speaker 1:

It's the other way around and she uses all sorts of different, um kind of magic things or the echoes that's why they call it the echoes, because she, based on where she goes, she can go and find different, um kind of objects, different enemies, different, uh things to basically use as echoes. Right, and we already knew that from before. But this is the first one that is actually giving us a look into the world and you see, there you get to see the different Zoras. So they have the Zoras, which are the river Zoras from the old Legend of Zelda um, a link to the past, yeah, and then they have the Zoras, like you would expect, from Zora's domain, in, uh, the new games, right, yeah, so they're all kind of there.

Speaker 1:

And you have the Gorons, you get to see Elden Volcano. You get to see all different locations. So there's really two main differences that you're getting from from this trailer right from this trailer, you're getting to see how she's using a new ability that they showed off called bind, and I initially thought it was going to be bind, like in pokemon, where you bind something and then they can't move, but in this one she's using bind more as, like, um, moving objects that are bound to her. They move in the same way that she moves. Or you can do like a reverse bind, where she or zelda moves in the same way that the object is moving.

Speaker 1:

So it's like a new puzzle mechanic, right, and what you saw just before too, and it looks a lot like the quest system that they had on Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, where you saw the quest item pop up and it looks exactly the same. So they're adding a lot of those mechanics that they put into that game, into this, of course, Into 2D. Yeah, exactly, and it's going to be seeming like an open world and what you're seeing there you get a horse, so you get to go around the world with a horse.

Speaker 1:

This is nice.

Speaker 2:

It is nice, you can do whatever you want.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so the horse you can use to jump over small kind of cliffs, small fencing, and you know they mentioned in the trailer that once you get the echo for a carrot you'll be able to basically use or call the horse wherever you want in the overworld. Yeah, and there's a different kind of shopkeeper. I guess you could say it's the scrub business scrub, yeah, Make different type of smoothies, different things to change the way that you can change costumes.

Speaker 1:

You can, yeah, so you'll use those smoothies to to do different things for her stats. It seems like and, like you said, there's different costumes. There was one costume that they showed that looks just like the uh, oh, not chic. What are the? Um assassins? Not the assassin? Oh, the gerudo. The gerudo people, yeah, in the valley. Yes, well, she looks like them and this is showing off the bind mechanic, right, so you're using the bind mechanic for different obstacles, for things that you can't use as an echo oh, look at this, oh, look at that yeah, so the object moves just in the same way that Zelda does.

Speaker 1:

Like I was saying, if you jump it, it's going to jump as well, and that's exactly what happened. Yes, so you're going to use that mechanic in a whole different way for different puzzles, different ways to fight people. What they showed off was you bound to an enemy Jump him off a cliff, exactly.

Speaker 1:

Or you bind to an echo, which they showed a spike ball, and you just walk in and attack people. That way, you bind to a moving platform and you use that bound mechanic to have it pull you across, uh, an open chasm. Or you can bind to a bird and fly around in whatever path it's flying. Bind to a spider, like they're showing, you can use it to walk up the cliff. So there's, they added a whole bunch of different, a lot, yeah, right, so they added. They really went like breath of the wild with this one, in a way 2d style. Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 2:

So it's like all these different mechanics that you're going to be able to use with this game imagine like a megaman x, like that, I know, I know one can only wait, I can't, I can't wait for, for something like that, but this game, this game is kind of like Breath of the Wild, but in 2D it is Like all those mechanics, all those.

Speaker 1:

Because, you can use all those mechanics to find secret items, secret dungeon or everything that's why, they did put that that's why they did put that, and right now it looks like it's more focused on puzzles than it is focused on, like the action portion of what you usually get when you play as. Link and this is coming out September 26th so almost two months, almost two months, and we'll have it in our hands. I already have it purchased from. You know. On on, on Nintendo, they have the um pre-order not.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's like the pre-orders, but they have those little, I guess, certificates. You pay 100 bucks, you get two coupon things that you can then use to get two games. So you really yeah, you end up saving 20 bucks that way, because you know, 60 bucks is usually the price of each game. I don't know how much this one's going to be yet.

Speaker 2:

I believe it was 60 bucks also so if you get the gift card from costco, then I know it's, you save even more.

Speaker 1:

That's, that's like the hack for getting a sale on every game. Use that, get the coupon and then trade it in for whatever kind of game. As long as it's a 60 game, yeah, because there are some out there that are like 40 bucks.

Speaker 2:

You don't want to use it for those, yeah yeah, sometimes uh uh on in costco like you can buy a hundred dollar gift card for 80 bucks I know, and then sometimes they have those on sale too.

Speaker 1:

It's crazy yeah so, yeah, no, that that's what I always look for and then, okay, I'm gonna use this over there to get that thing. Yeah, it's like a savings uh on your uh, I know that's what you gotta. It's like the hack. That's the hack to get the most saving.

Speaker 2:

Yeah there you go, guys. One tip, yeah, one tip, be good from us, if you can save money, be a little frugal, you know, but no, I'm really excited for this game.

Speaker 1:

I love zelda games, especially those 2d zeldas. I also grew up with them too I know it was around your generation too, right, so I'm really hyped for this.

Speaker 2:

No, I played a lot of zelda before, yeah, but uh, it's on game boy yeah, so like pretty much like arcola season, arcola ages. Um, I played minish cap, probably, yeah, I mean, which was made by capcom, by the way it is. Um, I played, yeah, like lynx awakening, yeah, like Link's Awakening. I think that one was the first Zelda that I played and then I went backwards from Ages and Season and what else I forgot, like the one that there's like two worlds.

Speaker 1:

A Link to the Past. Yeah, a Link to the Past. That is like one of my all-time favorite ones is A Link to the Past. That is like one of my all-time favorite ones is A Link to the Past, a Link to the Past, where my brother beat it in, I think, a day and a half Jeez did he, he didn't sleep man, he just ate, and then he went back.

Speaker 2:

No, that's it.

Speaker 1:

I remember playing that one and you get the courage, the power and the wisdom. Amulet things first and I thought that was the end. Then all of a sudden you go to the other world and you have to get the seven crystals.

Speaker 2:

I believe they were yeah oh man, that game was awesome it's kind of like Castlevania and then all of a sudden it's the reverse castle kind of yeah, like we have to go to the dark realm yeah, and then there's one more 3DS, that's the Zelda. No, I played Breath of the Wild, the first one yeah, the Breath of the Wild. I really loved it.

Speaker 1:

You didn't play Tears of the Kingdom yet.

Speaker 2:

Tears of the Kingdom. No, because I sold my Switch right. I sold my V1 Switch and you know why it was sold. Yeah, come on, man it was sold for so much, probably even more than what I paid for.

Speaker 1:

Because people jailbreak those. That's right. Yeah, yeah, which? I still have mine. I still have mine. I mean, I can always borrow from kristen. So yeah, bro, I can't believe you got to play tears of the kingdom. It is. You know, some people go back and forth and say breath of the wild was better, but tears of the kingdom, I think is better, really definitely is better.

Speaker 2:

I love bread of the wild. Yeah, you know, I played. I remember I borrowed your game bread of the wild because I sold mine yeah just to finish every. What do you call that?

Speaker 1:

I forgot what it's called like every to collect all the corax seeds.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, or all the shrines, or the shrines all the shrines I collected, all of those, perfected, all those, like that was that's too much. But I really love bread of the wild. I played it only when I first got the game. I played it only for like 30 minutes. I was having a hard time, but as you go on that you learn, you learn the game everything, even killing. Like those what do we call that? Like right in front of the Ganon castle, like those robots oh yeah, the guardian guardian something.

Speaker 2:

Those are hard to be hard to be. They use this, parry it. Yeah, just very easy the lionels that are in there, yeah no so, tears of the kingdom, is better, has better mechanics, has that building mechanic where you can, bro, do almost anything you told you, uh, showed it to me like oh, you build and then you jump and you build, you build, you build. Yeah, just for another puzzle.

Speaker 1:

You build and then you jump and you build, you build, you build yeah just for another puzzle, oh man and Tears of the Kingdom actually has a good story to it and it ends, bro the high note that it ends.

Speaker 2:

It's like anime level, like if, if I buy another Switch, like just that normal Switch, is it still worth it just wait for the Switch 2. Just wait for the Switch 2. It's not worth it right now Not anymore, right Do not buy a Switch right now.

Speaker 1:

Switch 2 is right around the corner. I feel like Maybe you know, like a year, if you buy one now and it comes out a year from now, you're going to go. Oh man, I should have waited. Yeah, so just wait and just keep those. Yeah, just wait, keep that yeah just wait and you'll get the switch too, and yeah, yeah I have a question because I sold my switch.

Speaker 2:

Will my save files be still in cloud or not anymore? They should be, should be right, like if I get my account back to the switch, then it's it's just getting another okay, that's good, not every.

Speaker 1:

I believe zelda did save to the cloud.

Speaker 2:

Not every game saves oh no, I played a lot of games on my switch like uh what is that like? Uh, what was the rpg? The very first one that came with the bread of the wild it's senos. I'm not not senna years, not oh uh. Xenoblade chronicles yeah, that was those ones, man those are good those ones, man, those are good, those ones. I played a lot.

Speaker 1:

Once it was released, I played everything and those are so long and they look good too, I still have to beat the second one. I didn't play the third one yet because I said no way. I didn't even beat the second one yet, I beat everything. Yeah, oh, man, you're crazy. But man, I'm excited for Zelda.

Speaker 1:

Zelda, like I said, tears of the Kingdom has anime quality Story that happens at the end Insane. I want you to see it. So I think it only is fitting for us to end off on a little talks about anime Because, like I said, this season there's a lot of good stuff.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

So before we head out then you've been watching a lot of anime this season. Give me like your top five, Top five. For this season that you're currently watching. I'm currently watching. You're going to tell me one piece, because you're always watching One Piece.

Speaker 2:

That's number one.

Speaker 1:

Okay, come on.

Speaker 2:

All right, I mean, you know that that's my number one.

Speaker 1:

My number two will be Demon Slayer, you know that Demon Slayer, yeah, sure, which, by the way, one Piece. I'm excited to see season two of the live action, because that was really good actually yeah, they.

Speaker 2:

That was like they ended in anime in episode 54, something like something like that, but that was quick yeah, that was quick. There's a lot of information. Just to, yeah, put it on eight episodes, but you know it was really good though Mushoku Tensei.

Speaker 1:

Mushoku Tensei. Yes, of course. Good, I was watching Fairy Tail, but again because it's been a while and there's a new 100-year something, 100-year quest, but right now the one getting my heart is because it's ongoing.

Speaker 2:

You know, one Piece is a given, but my Hero Academia.

Speaker 1:

I have to go back to that. You're not really watching anything new from this season.

Speaker 2:

No, I mean my Hero Academia is getting updated.

Speaker 1:

Well, sure, but not yet. Are you watching any current season anime right now?

Speaker 2:

It's my Hero.

Speaker 1:

Academia. That's actually right now. They have new episodes out and all that yeah every every week, every week, okay. So how is it? I heard some things with this season. It was like, oh, it's not the best, but it's what do you mean?

Speaker 2:

it's not the best. That's what I heard, I don't know. It's good.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it is good all right, all right, because my hero academia it goes hard that that anime is good I just just can't.

Speaker 2:

No, no, no, don't tell me anything. You see my reaction, and it's worth it. So.

Speaker 1:

I'm a couple seasons behind. I think I'm at the season where they get that girl that has the little horn that basically sucks up people's quirks. Oh, you're far behind man, yeah, so she sucked up the quirk for the guy that was going to be or they wanted to be the candidate for the one for all, or is it all for one?

Speaker 2:

All for one.

Speaker 1:

All for one, so they she sucked.

Speaker 2:

No, it's both like all for one, one for all, yeah, but which one is the one?

Speaker 1:

that man I even forgot the main character, not the main character. But like the guy that has that quirk, that is all skinny now. Iz has that quirk, that is all skinny now.

Speaker 1:

Uh, izuku no no, no, no, the the, the guy that he gave the quirk, the blonde haired guy gets all big and buff all might, all might, yeah, so, uh, I forgot his name. It's been so long. So, uh, you know I'm at that part. She already sucked up the other guy's powers. He doesn't have his thing right now, so I'm sure he's gonna get it back at some point. But that's where I'm at. I know I'm very behind and it's. It's a very good anime. It's very good. I like it, so I need to get on it.

Speaker 2:

I'll give you a couple more. Uh, the one that I'm watching, but I didn't want to start it because I know I'm gonna get like um, um, you know, like you're going to look for it. It was Failure Frame.

Speaker 1:

Oh, failure Frame. Yeah, that's a current one, it's kind of like hentai anime. Hentai why?

Speaker 2:

It's kind of I don't know man, what do you think about it?

Speaker 1:

It's not. Where are you getting hentai from, which is basically anime p*rn? For those people that don't know, it's definitely not, aside from the goddess lady that brings all the people. So this isn't isekai anime, it's a whole class from Japan gets brought over to this new world and the goddess One class, man One class.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, there's one class of students, and the goddess that brought them over rates them and ranks them from E to S. The main character gets ranked at E and then the rest of his class gets ranked D, C, B, A, S. So, him being the weakest rank, she sends him off to a dungeon to basically.

Speaker 2:

Get rid of him.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, to get rid of him, to kill him, basically for him to be dead. You know, because she's not the. You know good goddess, that she's trying to play off to be right. But this is kind of like the guy gets sh*t on and comes back hard and gets OP and stuff like that. So I'm really liking this anime. He goes over there. His skills are only like enfeebling skills, so sleep, paralysis and poison.

Speaker 1:

That's all I've seen him use so far. That's it. Yeah, he gets sent off over there and it's supposed to be that. He's like but I have these abilities, I can help out, I can do things. She's like are you kidding me? Those abilities are weak, they barely work ever. Anyways, that's what the goddess says, that's what the goddess tells him. And she sends him off and he goes hard because before she teleports him to that dungeon where he's supposed to go and die, he says if I make it back, you better watch out.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and he just goes yeah, and he gets into that new place Turns out everything. Yeah, he's got like a 100% chance to you know cause, enfeebling to his enemies, and he has OP, op as hell, op. I'm liking this one a lot too.

Speaker 2:

Okay, the last one I'm going to tell you is that time I get reincarnated, oh, wait, wait wait, wait, wait.

Speaker 1:

There's no, there's no hentai with that one. I don't know what you're talking about. There's no, there's no, nothing like that. They they do show. So of course, some of the women, the female characters, have big boobs and they look voluptuous, yeah, like waifu-y.

Speaker 2:

Okay, no hentai, there's no nudity. I'll take it back, but soon you'll see.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so yes, sir.

Speaker 2:

The last one sir. That time I got reincarnated as a slime. Another.

Speaker 1:

S-rank anime. This one is good, it is I'm far behind on this one too.

Speaker 2:

Actually, I recently bought Rimuru Tempest. I think I have it beside Luffy, oh nice.

Speaker 1:

The one I gave you, the Luffy Luffy, the one you gave me, I think Sophia has a Rimuru also my daughter, because we got her a whole bunch of anime figures. I think she might have one too.

Speaker 2:

I'll check it out later.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, anime figures. I think she might have one too. I'll check it out later. Yeah, no, I love this anime. I need to catch up on it. This is like definitely an s rank one.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's an, it is isekai right it is, yes, he gets, he comes up, killed, yeah, becomes a slime. Yeah, yeah, that's the weakest monster. And then I just can't say anything. But you guys just watch it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, this is very good. It's a. You know, it has a good story to it. A lot of things happen and, uh, it's another one that I, like I want to start tower of god did, did I, did you start that one when I was at your house?

Speaker 2:

yeah, when, before we played the elden ring, right, right um. I showed you the animation yeah, it's like old school, but then it it gets good reviews on Crunchyroll I mean, I guess it's like a good. If you go there, it's just always here on top.

Speaker 1:

I mean, I guess I've heard of Tower of God and I feel like I've heard good things about it, so I was a little bit shocked seeing the animation quality of it. I don't know if they're going for that stylized look or if that's just how the budget landed them. Yeah, because it doesn't look as polished as you would expect but that's only the first episode.

Speaker 2:

Maybe it's gonna get better, I don't know maybe, but you know what.

Speaker 1:

To be fair, failure frame is the same thing, failure frame. Sure, it looks a little bit more polished initially. They use a lot of cg animation and it's not it. To me it looks like the budget for animation wasn't that high. Yeah, I felt that too, but it's okay, I'm still loving it. So maybe tower of god is the same thing.

Speaker 2:

It's always like that, even. It's always like, uh, like. The main character is getting abandoned at first and all of a sudden they become strong. Uh, just like uh. Another one is uh, what is this like? He was really big and fat and all of a sudden he became so handsome and oh, that's uh, that's uh netflix.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's a korean one, it's called lookism, see lookism, like korean makes so good anime nowadays even solo leveling. Yeah, so that one, yeah, so he didn't become skinny. That one, he all of a sudden wakes up. He's a you know fat guy, he's bullied and all that.

Speaker 1:

Oh, it's like half and half, yeah, so he wakes up one time and he's all of a sudden in a skinny, ripped, taller body. He's all handsome. And then he looks over and he sees his normal fat, not handsome-looking self is still there. So whenever he falls asleep in one body, he wakes up in the other one. Yeah, so that you know. I think I put you onto that one too. I think right you did. I thought it was going to suck. I said, all right, let me check it out. And it was good.

Speaker 1:

It and it was good, it was good, it was very good it had has a lot of those. Yeah, you show them type of stuff right? Yeah, so did you have any other ones?

Speaker 2:

or if not, I'll go down, my god, your list now.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so my anime list and most of these are for this season, because I'm usually, um, always trying to catch up on the new stuff. So failure frame, of course, is on there. Uh, there's another one, and, and these are all really long names, by the way, the the failure frame, it's I be. So failure frame, of course, is on there. Uh, there's another one, and, and these are all really long names, by the way, the the failure frame, it's I be a failure frame. I became the strongest and annihilated everything with low level spells. It's really long yeah the next one.

Speaker 1:

It's uh, the awesome newbie adventurer, trained to death by the most powerful party, became invincible oh, that's a.

Speaker 2:

Why did they make this um anime title so long?

Speaker 1:

so? So what I heard is they made the titles for manga that long, right, because there's a lot of manga now, right, there's all sorts of manga, and in japan especially. So they make the long name so that when people are looking at them, they know, okay, this is what this is, this is what this is about, and you know, they see it, they pick it up. Okay, this is what it is. So I'm I like this, I'm gonna read it.

Speaker 2:

They become more like uh on point.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's like you know what it's about you know, what it is and you know what to expect. That's what I heard at least. I don't know how true that is, but this one's pretty good. It's another one of those. It's a guy who always wanted to be an adventurer his whole life. He's 30 years old, which is like way past the prime, and all of a sudden he gets trained by this S-rank party and he becomes this kind of a god tier kind of adventurer himself. It's, it's pretty good also.

Speaker 1:

I like this one. He kind of in the episode so far he doesn't really know how strong he is, he still thinks he's kind of weak and all that. So it's kind of building up to that. Uh. The other one I'm watching I don't believe this is a current season anyway, but this is, uh, the strongest magician. Uh, in the demon lord's army was a human, uh. So this one is kind of like he's not necessarily op, yeah, but he's. He's a very strong magician, right, and he's a human, like it says in the demon lord's army, and it's kind of you're watching him navigate being a human and trying to hide that in in in the demon army, because he's like a commander of a whole unit and they don't know he's a human.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so it's pretty cool. So far. It's interesting. It's not like S rank, right, I would get this at B, like B rank anime, you know. And then I have this other one. It's called A Journey Through Another World Raising Kids While Adventuring. This one is a lot more lighthearted. This guy sent Isekai to a new world and all of a sudden, these two kids. He sees them kind of in the wilderness, they're all dirty.

Speaker 1:

He takes them on, starts protecting them and yeah it's just him going through that world, kind of being the father figure for these two kids. Oh, look at that. Yeah it's very lighthearted, it's kind of fun. And then these next ones are more the slice of life kind of rom-com, maybe a little harem in there and stuff. This one I like it's called Alia Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian.

Speaker 2:

Oh, I got another.

Speaker 1:

This is a rom-com.

Speaker 2:

I feel, like.

Speaker 1:

I've seen this, you russian, oh my god, another, another this is around.

Speaker 2:

I feel like I've seen this you might have, because I know tristan's oh, there we go. That's why, yeah, like it's, uh, it's kind of like spike's family, kind of no, no, not really, no, no. So it's like uh, very this is like a girly chick see kind of it's rom-com you know it's rom-com there in high school, basically what this one is.

Speaker 1:

it's this guy sits next to this girl who's Russian and half Japanese, so she, you know, he's kind of like they interact a lot and she has a bit of a crush on him and she will say certain things to him in Russian. She'll say come on, why are you slacking off in Japanese to him? And stuff Like come on, pay attention, what's wrong with you? Blah, blah, blah, stuff like that. All of a sudden, in Russian she'll actually say her true feelings, like you know I, why do you, why don't you pay enough attention to me? Or something like that. You know, like things like of a flirty nature, and she doesn't know that. He knows Russian, so he knows what she's saying in Russian and he's like what the f*ck did she really just say that at first and then it keeps progressing. He's like she doesn't know.

Speaker 2:

Oh, this makes it interesting now.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's actually funny. I like it. The next one it's a harem one, but it's rom-com. It's not dirty harem, there's like the dirty edgy, like perverted ones. What do you mean harem? What is harem? So a harem anime is like where you have the one guy or girl, I guess, uh, that is surrounded by the opposite sex, who are all interested in him. Ah, okay, yeah, so it's like you know, usually it's a guy surrounded by a lot of girls and they all have a crush on him.

Speaker 1:

yeah, and then they might start competing with each other, and there's always that. There's usually the tropes that they follow with that. So that's what this one is. This one is the cafe terrace and its goddesses Basically, guy running his cafe from his late grandmother, and there's all these girls that live in there. And it's funny. There's always, of course, the different characteristics that each girl has Very slice of life, life, rom-com, harem type of thing. I'm into those, so I you know if you're into rom-coms.

Speaker 2:

this is one I recommend um um. Another one that I would recommend if you want to relax. Have you ever heard freerun?

Speaker 1:

oh yeah, freerun is good, frieden is good, you've seen it.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

I've seen it the whole thing. I finished it. Yeah, frieden is good. I mean, I loved it. It's very chill.

Speaker 2:

Huh, it is very chill, the way they made the whole, I don't know from start through end. The way the timeline is just relaxing. I don't know, man, I always fell asleep, but I finished the whole thing.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so the premise of this one is interesting. So, fridin, it's like a journey's end or something like that. But yes, she's an elf. She was part of the hero's party that defeated the demon lord and the anime starts off some years after that. So the hero, the main hero, was a human. He had already died, yeah, and there was the cleric that was with them. He's very old and all that and she's an elf. So she's obviously lived before them, lives after them, and it's kind of you seeing her adventure progress after that time period and and all that and it's it's you seeing her adventure progress after that time period and and all that and it's it's good.

Speaker 1:

I I agree this one's really good. I like this one a lot and it's cute too. She's like, she's very cute. It's funny at first I I started watching and I was like, oh, I don't like kind of how she looks. She looks like this weird little chubby elf with, uh, eyebrows, different kind of yeah yeah, at first, but it was just for some reason, the first couple opening scenes and then after that it's. It's very different. Um, it looks, it's great.

Speaker 1:

I like this one yeah so definitely, that's a, that's a great one, that's a really good one. I think it's done, actually too, that at least the current seasons are done. There's no more. Yeah, yeah, uh. The only other one I want to say is another. Um, I guess it's a rom-com one, a Slice of Life. This is very lighthearted, kind of wholesome. If you're into those, it's Tonikawa. I think it's Over the Moon for you, tonikawa, over the Moon for you.

Speaker 2:

I haven't seen this one, though.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so if you're into these very lighthearted rom-com ones, it's a guy gets hit by a car. He's in high school, but he didn't get to go to high school or something like that, because of him. The accident, yeah, gets saved by this girl and ends up kind of proposing to her in his haze of having gotten hit by the car and he's bleeding, gushing blood and all that kind of stuff right and they end up getting together and it's kind of you seeing that slice of life um interaction between him and her navigating becoming a married couple.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and it's good, I like it. And then you know, there's other characters that make it funny, Like there's another girl who's perverted and she's like did you guys do stuff yet? Did you kiss?

Speaker 2:

Nah, it's funny.

Speaker 1:

It's funny. I like it a lot. It's good, it's like a very easy watch, yeah, yeah, so those are our current recommendations. There's still a lot I can go on. I know there's so many. Well, you know, there's always time to come back for it on the next time. Those are our recommendations for now. I think the listeners definitely, if you're into anime, you have plenty to get through until the next time. There's plenty of more good stuff to get into, I'm sure, more new anime to get into the current season, I believe, is.

Speaker 2:

We just told them the current season basically, yeah, just this season.

Speaker 1:

This season. We're only like halfway through, so you know, a couple of weeks, weeks we'll be getting into some new stuff. Hope that you all come back and listen and until next time, gg's, see ya, gg's.
